Prime Minister Stephen Harper met today with CMAW Local 506 members who will be involved in the construction of a number of ships for the Canadian government. Harper is the first prime minister ever to visit the 110-year-old shipyard on Pemberton Street in North Vancouver.

The Travel Allowance for use of your personal vehicle has been increased to 53 cents per kilometre, an increase of one cent from last year. This new rate took effect Jan. 1, 2012. Check your collective agreement for details of the Travel Allowance provision.

It is with great sadness and a sense of profound loss that we advise that Kathleen Reid, wife of CMAW Local 1995 President Bill Duck, has passed away.   A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 18, 2011 at 11 am at Maple Ridge Funeral Chapel, 11969 - 216 Street in Maple Ridge.
