Carpentry Workers' Benefit Plan of BC Report to the Members

A Year of Improvements and Changes
The careful financial management of the past several years has paid off!
In early 2008 the Trustees, with the assistance of benefits consultants at Hewitt Associates, undertook a comprehensive review of the benefit plan. Everything from the plan structure and the service providers to the investment of assets were analyzed and discussed.
In July 2008 the Trustees were very happy to be able to improve the coverage offered under both option packages. The dental maximum was raised for the first time since 1997, wage indemnity increased for the first time since 1992 and for the first time ever members now have the protection of Long Term Disability. At the same time the plan moved to Greenshield and SunHfe as its outside benefit providers to improve the service.
